Chemical Peels
Chemical Peels are a method of resurfacing the skin. By inducing a controlled wound, chemical peeling agents can remove epidermal layers of the skin and stimulate collagen remodeling which help to improve hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, texture, and skin impurities.
Peels are classified by how deeply they penetrate into the skin. The most common categories are the following:
- Very Superficial: Stratum Corneum
- Superficial: Epidermal Layers
- Medium Depth: Papillary Dermis
- Deep: Reticular Dermis
Healing time and complications are dependent on peel depth. Unlike medium and deep peels, there is a little or no downtime with epidermal peels, allowing patients to go about their daily routine.
Types of Peels offered: Glycolic, Salicylic, Retinoic, and Pigment Peels
